tekkie question...

does anyone know about photographic printing on metal sheet?

I've been thinking again about these injury images... it has always bugged me because i've never really felt i've resolved how to present them. I had riginally framed them but it didn't feel very considered or intrinsic to the idea...

They are images that really underpin a lot of what I do. I had to send one off for an exhibition i'm in later in the year, and once again it reared a nagging doubt that the work is just not finished. so i'm exploring a return to them. I also perhaps want to put myself in the pictures, anonymously, I think it has always felt wrong that I have taken the pictures of other people and i want to get inside the process more. I like the idea of the privacy and autonomy of taking the image myself of myself, but nobody actually needs to know that...

Or does anyone have any other thoughts on presenting photographs? I'd also had an idea of having it as a dvd still so the tv becomes the frame, like a documentary? I'd imagined an ordinary portible tv not a flashy plasma screen...

Sorry i've been absent, I've not been very confident about my thoughts, internalising them. But then on sunday I got into a discussion with the jewellery group i'm involved in and when I started talking I realised I had made progress in my mind, without realising it. Time to open up again i guess!

Arrgghh it is actually happening and a possibilty to write a proposal for a group show to submitt to the university of hertfordshire

today we have been served notice to vacate our studio spaces by the 30th Septmber. we are unsure if the council will give us another place to go to in the interim period whilst the trust trys to arrange funding to develop a build of purpose built studios here in stevenage. this project if it goes ahead would possibly take three years if not more.

i feel so disconnected at the moment. the folk in my studios are pleasant to be around but are not the most inspiring driving force which is what I feel when i meet up with all of you.

my motivation has died. i feel the arts in stevenage is some kind of rude word.

Nevertheless an opportunity has arisen to raise a submission for the university of hertfordshire galleries. I was wondering if anyone would like to collaborate in a group kind of happening???
or should i put forward a submission of my own work?
the deadline for submissions is the 5th may.

let me know what you think.

Over five days a publication will be created that brings together aspects of the work of a group of artists. Folded, Glued and Printed will give attention to what may seem to sit to the side of their main body of work, yet these activities are essential, dynamic and paramount to the individual’s practice.

Folded, Glued and Printed will develop and grow from the artists work, with the space of the gallery containing the raw elements and process of the publication, to be made visible in its entirety on the final day of the exhibition.

Arts Jobs posting

RULES AND REGS AT
COLCHESTER ARTS CENTRE

Call for Applications:

Colchester Arts Centre welcomes applications from artists wishing to participate in Rules and Regs in Colchester (27th May - 6th July, 2008). Four selected artists will work to a set of Rules sensitively devised in response to their practices, as a challenge to explore new ways of working. The artists all work to the same Rules, culminating in a public showing of the work created.

All work will be created and presented on a (stationary) old London bus.

Participating artists receive a fee, travel and accomodation support and a small production budget and have access to an individually tailored professional development scheme, documentation of their work and a package of production support.

For a full application pack, please email anthony@colchesterartscentre.com or download from www.rulesandregs.org/cac08.html

Rules and Regs is primarily a development opportunity for making new work, rather than a platform. While programmers, curators, funders etc. may be invited to performances, the primary goal is to explore artistic practice.

Artists should not apply with a specific or existing project in mind, as rules are devised in response to participating artists' practices and revealed only after artists have been selected and agreed to participate.

Artists are expected to spend significant time in Colchester during the project.
This project is open to all artists working in live art in the UK.

TIMETABLE:
• Deadline for applications: Monday 29th February 2008.
• Shortlisted artists interviewed: Week of 10th March in Colchester.
• Artists selected and participation confirmed by: 28th March.
• Project launch: Tuesday 27th May (artists must be available on this date).
• Development period: Wednesday 28th May to Friday 4th July.
• Public performance / exhibitions in Colchester: Saturday 5th July and Sunday 6th July.
• Additional performances (TBC) scheduled for Saturday 2th July (Bracknell) and Saturday 26th July (Southampton) (artists must be available on these dates).

The project is a co-production of Colchester Arts Centre and Rules and Regs and is managed by Colchester Arts Centre and curated by Anthony Roberts.
