today we have been served notice to vacate our studio spaces by the 30th Septmber. we are unsure if the council will give us another place to go to in the interim period whilst the trust trys to arrange funding to develop a build of purpose built studios here in stevenage. this project if it goes ahead would possibly take three years if not more.
i feel so disconnected at the moment. the folk in my studios are pleasant to be around but are not the most inspiring driving force which is what I feel when i meet up with all of you.
my motivation has died. i feel the arts in stevenage is some kind of rude word.
Nevertheless an opportunity has arisen to raise a submission for the university of hertfordshire galleries. I was wondering if anyone would like to collaborate in a group kind of happening???
or should i put forward a submission of my own work?
the deadline for submissions is the 5th may.
let me know what you think.
Hugs j xx

sounds bad, sorry it is so shit in Stevenage at the moment. I would say it is a good time to shake rattle and roll. Change can be good as a rest, and the studio issue has been draining you for a while.
What are the details for the Hertfordshire gallery?
Hi Steven, the uni of herts have 2 galleries. the main one is at the faculty of creative industries, college lane, hatfield a larg well lit space with high footfall of students atc as this is the main entrance to the arts campus. try this link http://perseus.herts.ac.uk/schools/ad/uhgalleries/uhgalleries.cfm
the other gallery is the margret Harvey based in St Albans, the space is a lot smaller again check this link. http://perseus.herts.ac.uk/uhinfo/schools/ad/uhgalleries/mhgallery.cfm
its only a thought but Matthew is really keen on unique, strong group shows. I have spoken to him many times regarding franko and those that i have met through the scheme.
How do you think things can proceed? Do you not want to have a solo show? When would the exhibition be?
You could see who in the group is interested, I am, so that is 2. Maybe we ask directly, i.e you think katherine work would suit what the show needs. It means you could act as coordinator/curator/artist.
What do you think?
Hi Steven, I;m going to aim for a solo show on this occasion. however I would also like to curate a group show at the university. this is something we need to discuss further in the whole group. the spaces are interesting and I feel that UH would benefit from the group dynamics.
cool. Sounds like a plan, we need plans...
